Over the years art lovers and collectors have enjoyed the small artworks hanging on the walls of our stairwell. Dwarfed by a twenty-four foot high tin ceiling, the stairwell makes a grandiose presentation for these small, sometimes miniature, artworks—one that has becomes an ongoing, ever changing staple at Courthouse Gallery.
Mediums run the gamut from oils, acrylics, watercolors, and encaustics, to woodblock prints and etchings, photomontages, and sculptures made from reclaimed wood beams and styrofoam and plaster, and polyester resin.
The Stairwell Show includes works by Rosie Moore, Tom Curry, Judy Belasco, Christina Thwaites, Kate Emlen, John Neville, Kevin Beers, Philip Frey, Matt Barter, Holly Meade (1956–2013), Linda Packard, June Grey, Lilian Day Thorpe, Ed Nadeau, Carl Sprinchorn (1887–1971), Siri Beckman, Janice Anthony, Richard Keen.
Courthouse Gallery Fine Art is housed in Ellsworth’s historic courthouse, built in 1832.
