B Millner: Nocturnes
Opening Reception: Wednesday, September 15 from 5–7pm
B Millner’s nocturnal paintings are cloaked in a veil of mystery. Twilight cast a warm glow across worn buildings while street lights illuminate rain-slicked streets in Millner’s urban scenes. Millner’s photo-realistic nocturnes find the beauty in the grit of the city and Maine’s working waterfronts.
Millner is a sculptor and painter who began exhibiting his work in 2002 near the end of a successful career in business. A native of North Carolina, he is a graduate of Davidson College (Economics and English) and the University of North Carolina (MBA). For over twenty years, Millner participated in studio classes at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School. He took foundry courses at Virginia Commonwealth University, the number one ranked sculpture department in the United States. His work can be found in numerous private, corporate, and institutional collections, and has been selected for several national juried exhibitions. Millner has been coming to Maine since 1995. He built a home and studio on Bailey Island in 2006, and now splits his time between Maine and Virginia, where he also maintains a studio.
