Courthouse Gallery Fine Art will host an Artists’ Talk with Heidi Daub and Richard Keen on Saturday, September 26, at 11am. Daub and Keen, who bring two distinct approaches to abstraction, will talk about their work in A Shared Horizon, a two-person exhibition on view through October 17.

The pair will explore what it means to go beyond landscape—when the landscape becomes something else—the ways perceptions of the natural world can be translated, distilled, and transformed through the act of mark making. During the conversation, they will reflect on process, color, and the influence of geometry and poetry in relation to the patterns and fractals found in nature and their paintings?

A Shared Horizon This two-person exhibition explores unexpected connections between the work of Heidi Daub and Richard Keen, two Maine artists whose styles are complementary, yet vastly different: geometric and bold on one hand, organic and softly layered on the other.

Both share a fascination with patterns and fractals, and a deep passion for the natural world, evident in such paintings as Keen’s Night Trees and Daub’s She Comes From the Sun. Richly saturated and dreamlike, these imaginative landscapes offer a glimpse into a realm where the patterns in nature mysteriously converge.
