Tom Hennessey bio resume press

Tom Hennessey grew up in Brewer, Maine with a salmon river, the Penobscot, at his front door and game-abundant fields and woodlands at his back door. Little did he know, however, that the trails he followed to trout brooks, salmon lakes, deer camps, bird covers and duck blinds would eventually launch his career as a sporting artist and outdoor writer. As his reputation grew and patrons began to commission paintings, Hennessey was invited to hunting and fishing grounds throughout the United States and beyond.

Many of these trips a field became the inspiration for his watercolor paintings. Fishing scenes are apt to depict angling for Atlantic salmon in Canada, trout in Argentina and Montana, bonefish in the Bahamas, tarpon in the Florida Keys, and sailfish and marlin on the west coast of Costa Rica. Likewise, his shooting scenes depict quail hunting on southern plantations, doves and ducks in Mexico, geese on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, birds and waterfowl in Saskatchewan, and driven grouse and pheasants in Scotland.
