Kazumi Hoshino Biography
Kazumi Hoshino (b. 1973) s a stone sculptor, who has been making and exhibiting her work for over twenty years. Her sculptures are carved from local stone, granite, and basalt with a focus on intimate shapes, and an emphasizes the natural beauty and character of the stone.
In recent years, Hoshino has been working on Composition, a series which comes from combining simple forms. For Hoshino, variety and complexity are derived from a simple form.
Hoshino, who was born and raised in Nagoya, Japan, studied oil painting and sculpture privately before attending Tohoku University of Art and Design where she graduated with a sculpture degree. She is also a licensed art curator in Japan.
