George Bayliss bio
Born in Washington, DC in 1931, attended the University of Virginia, University of Maryland (BA) and the Cranbrook Academy of Art (MFA).
His work has been included in more than 200 group exhibitions across the country since 1950. Among them were regional shows of art at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, Corcoran Gallery of Art, US National Museum, Kalamazoo Art Center, Flint Institute of Arts, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Akron Art Institute, Isaac Delgado Museum of Art, Butler Institute of American Art, University of Kentucky, Lever House - NYC, Maine Coast Artists Gallery, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, St. Louis Art Museum, Frye Art Museum- Seattle, San Francisco Palace of the Legion of Honor, Philadelphia’s Woodmere Art Museum and many others. In addition his paintings and drawings have appeared in solo and small group exhibitions at dealers’ galleries like Gordon’s Fifth Avenue Gallery, Babcock Gallery, MB Modern Gallery in New York City; Ross Widen Gallery in Cleveland; Zriny-Hayes Gallery in Chicago; Forsythe Gallery in Ann Arbor; MD Modern Gallery in Houston; AAA Gallery in Detroit; Jefferson Place Gallery in Washington and in Maine the Turtle Gallery in Deer Isle and the Court House Gallery in Ellsworth.
